Wrong default program to open .dll file
Hello,
By mistake, I tried to open a .dll File after clicking "change program" then Acrobat Reader, without checking the box "always use this program ...". All .Dll files now have the Acrobat icon, but i want the previous default one but I'd like to correct this wrong manipulation, How can i do?
Thank you for your help.
Re: Wrong default program to open .dll file
Well you can do the same thing which you did with acrobat reader but this time choose the notepad instead of acrobat reader, set notepad to default, except set a different program. This should bring the previous icon back to .dll files. Try it out, good luck.
Re: Wrong default program to open .dll file
There is simple procedure to do it:
- Right Click on any .Dll file .
- Select Open With,
- Then Select Program.
- Select your favorite image viewer program. Check the "always use selected program" box and Click OK.
Re: Wrong default program to open .dll file
Good evening,
Warning: Changing the registry can cause serious problems that may go to the inability to start Windows, better is to backup registry first.
- Start-> run-> type regedit-> Ok
- Navigate to the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\dllfile\DefaultIcon
- Double click the value (default) and copy and paste this in data Value":
- %SystemRoot%\System32\shell32.dll,-154
- Click Ok and then restart the PC.
