DVDs not reading
I recently installed a Samsung SH-S223L into my PC. The disk drive will not read the DVDs. I put the DVD in the drive and the computer reads there is a disk in the drive. The option of playing the DVD comes up and i select "Play". Windows Media Player loads up and a message stating i don't have a compatible decoder installed comes up. I am completely lost on what to do from here and don't even know to search for a decoder either.

Re: DVDs not reading
You must install codecs to play files which are not supported by Windows by default. Download K-Lite Media Codec Pack. Or you can download VLC Player.

Re: DVDs not reading
Simply put, DVD-R, DVD+R, and the like are different DVD formats. Many issues are caused by dirty lenses. Use a CD-cleaner and try again. Or you might need to check your dvd region code. For that you need to go to device manager, select control panel, then click on system, click on hardware and finally click on device manager. Then right click on your dvd rom drive and click properties. Somewhere you would get a region tab.
