Re: D-Link setup help
Which Dlink router you have? you should always give full info while posting the thread. If you got the model number of your Dlink router then search for its manual, that can help you to setup it.
Refer to few helpful threads for you :

Re: D-Link setup help
Let me give a try for you:
- First make sure you have everyhting that came with router in start, like the router, an installation disk, an Ethernet cable and a power adapter for the router. If anything missiong then replace it.
- Now first plug router into wall using its power adapter and the power LED on your router will be ON. Now make sure your modem is unplugged. Now take the Ethernet cable came with your router and plug it into your WAN port back of the unit and the another end of the cable will go into your modem's Ethernet port.
- Now its time to Power up both the cable and DSL modem and your router.
- Now you'll see Activity light flashing on your modem and the blinking light on the WAN port on the router . It shows the activity and communication between them. it means now your modem is sending IP information to the router.
- Now to configure your router open any web browser and go to http://www.192.168.0.1
- Now the admin screen of Dlink router will come..to login username will be 'admin' and leave the password column blank.
- Or refer to this topic : http://forums.techarena.in/networkin...ty/1234035.htm
- Now next setup a time zone, and it will also give option as how the router will handle IP address on the network. Most prople selects Dynamic option, which means the router will act as a DHCP server and supply all computers on the network with an IP address. If you selects Static IP Addresses, you will be brought to a screen that you will need to contact the ISP to get IP numbers from.
- Now you need to setup wireless connection. Change the default SSID to match the workgroup ID of your LAN PCs. The SSID and the Workgroup IDs must match. You will also be able to configure encryption at this point. If you have the ability to use the newer WPA encryption, you will want to use this. But we don’t recommend setting up encryption untill you confirm that all PCs are able to connect properly.
- In the end , it will ask you to reboot your router, select Yes.
