You are correct Emachines website doesn't provide any help, that;s really pathetic customer support, any how I've done a bit of research and found that the drivers are available from the downloadcenter.com website and if you Audio Controller is Realtek obtain it form their website
I've installed these and my PC is working fine, hope it will help you as well.

Dude, have you unzip the file which you obtained from their website, and then install it.If that is not causing the issue It comes that the integrated audio is Crystal CS4280 3D PCI Audio.look here for the driver in soundcard-drivers.com and install it

The eMachines site is rubbish.I just had the same problem with an emachines.You need to install the audio driver, it is a Realtek, you can obtain your drivers from the realtek website...have luck
