Re: XP Home desktop icons disappear
many of people reported this kind of situations in forum and i could not find a perfect solution for this finally i got an answer and it is working.for this all you need to do is end the sysu.exe process from your task manager and remove the C:\Programs\ddm folder from your computer but not that dynamic desktop media it's an adaware it is obviously a trouble maker
Re: XP Home desktop icons disappear
If you close a window the computer obliges when windows "refreshes" all of the Desktop Icons.then i know this is because the ShellIcon Cache file has reached it's limit of 500 entries. in order to curb this run Regedit and open the key:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer and create a new string value.give the value to 2000 any see anything happens

Go to My Computer in order to open the Local Disk (C) On the top left side of this screen is "System Tasks" box click on that to see the "Documents and Settings" folder suddenly appeared. right clicked on that folder, clicked on its properties and Uncheck the hidden box of Attributes in order to make a file tranfer mode which restoring all the files that were previously hidden.now come back to desktop to see start menu and desktop icons
