Help troubleshoot e machine
Hi,
I have an E-machine Computer with Windows XP. Its a T2682 eMachine.
The problem is when i hit the switch I can't get the thing to turn on.
Well I* know the monitor is working since it says No signal.
Can you tell me what should I do step by step to troubleshoot this e machine?
Re: Help troubleshoot e machine
First thing to check is: See if the power supply is working?
In most of the cases the power supply is the culprit. If its working then check, then check the processor fan if its rotating?
If your power supply is working & CPU (processor) fan is working then you must check your ram.
Many times ram is the cause for not booting the system.
Let us know what happens.
Re: Help troubleshoot e machine
Hey do you see any lights or does it emit any sound when you turn the machine on? Your e machine needs to be checked properly before you end up with any conclusion & change any part without knowing the actual reason for the boot problem. You can remove the main board connector from the power supply to the MB but you need a copy of the Motherboard installation manual to tell you what supplies are on that connector.
You can also report your problem to their sit:

I hope this helps you.
Re: Help troubleshoot e machine
No the PSU is not working.
What would you suggest me to do now?
Do I have to replace it?
Re: Help troubleshoot e machine
Well if its your PSU then first try to attach some different & working PSU of your friend & see if it works?
If its working then you can go & purchase a new PSU. How much is your budget?
If you are using ATX, guess the easiest way to find out your form factor would be to do a google using your emachine model number
I hope this helps
