hey guys
so i got this new vista home basic computer and i tried to connect to the internet and nothing comes up so i reconnected my old xp computer and its workes on that so i went to the modems website and downloaded the driver then i reconnected my vista computer and installed the driver but all it said was i had to reboot the computer so i did but every time i did it said to keep reboting it so i gave up can someone please help???

You can try this option to get your internet service started :
- unplug the modem
- start the computer
- plug the modem again
Make sure you have the fully updated drivers. And also check the connections and firmware and drivers installed properly.
This is a normal problem face with the modem. you need to do is reset the modem and reconfigure it back, If it the same after that better contact your ISP and ask them if everything is working from their end
Try to disable your firewall or your antivirus program that you may have install on your system. If you still face the same problem again on your system, then you need to uninstalled your antivirus program completely from your system and then try to connect to your internet service.

In many cases this behaviour has been reported as the "SPI" bug in that Vista doesn't like to interact with routers that do Stateful Packet Inspection nor apparently does it like to work with Deep Packet Inspection, but only in some cases.
