How to disable PCA in Windows 7
I am a Windows 7 user. Since last few days, it performance is getting low. While workout, i found that it might be the cause of Program Compatibility Assistant (PCA). Well i know it is for resolving compatibility issues. but i am aware of the compatibility of the applications i am using. So i need to disable the Program Compatibility Assistant in my Windows 7 computer. Could any one of help in doing so ? i don't know how to do that.
Re: How to disable PCA in Windows 7
Well, Program Compatibility Assistant is turned on by default in Windows.Turning it off is beneficial for you to achieve faster results if you are aware of the compatibility of the applications, as you said. So here are the steps to disable PCA in Windows 7:-
Go to Start menu of your windows and type gpedit.msc in the search line and press Enter. Now you need to navigate to the following folder:
Quote:
User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Application Compatibility
Now you will see the Turn off Program Compatibility Assistant option on the right side. Just double click it and mark the circle box that is for Enabled. Click OK and close the Local Group Policy Editor. now restart the pc to effect the changes. Thats it.. You are done.

In case you need some more information about PCA's issue detection, go to the policies under System->Troubleshooting and Diagnostics->Application Compatibility Diagnostics. Remember that the Diagnostic Policy Service and PCA Service must be running for the PCA to execute.
