Sata driver
I am having a Seagate barracuda hard drive and I want to do clean install of Windows XP. I was searching the web for Sata driver including my motherboard website asus but nothing happens. Can anyone tell me where can I find the driver for my sata controller? I am running Windows Vista, so will I find the driver in the system folder? Thanks.

Re: sata driver
Have you tried to download the Sata drivers from the Seagate website itself:

Re: sata driver
Actually, they dont describe how to do a clean install with Windows XP, with single new hard drive and there is no driver download option, I have already sent them an email and waiting for their response. Thanks

Re: sata driver
With my new motherboard there was an install CD that let me to provide a blank floppy to which the CD copied the necessary files for the onboard Sata and onboard eSata drivers, which I then used during the clean install. Dont you have anything similar from your motherboard manufacturer as well?

I just have a USB 2.0 driver and I think there should be a way to extract sata driver from my current C: hard drive with Vista on it or from Windows Vista CD but I dont know the exact location. I will ask the tech support on the manufacturer's website. Thanks

Re: sata driver
On the Asus website I was able to find a makedisk.exe and I have created floppy disk - F6 etc. But when it comes to installing new Windows XP, then I am getting a blue screen that is telling me that I dont have hard drive to install my OS? What should I do now?

Actually, Seagate makes Sata hard drives and they are not responsible for the Sata controller chips that are found on the motherboard. You dont need the Sata drivers to install Windows XP unless you are running AHCI mode. You need to check the CD-Rom but you will have to know what you were looking for and you havent even provided what motherboard you are using except that it is made by Asus.
