Linux drivers for adaptec 1230xa Raid controller
Hey Guys!
i have an old computer with P4SCT+ motherboard. I'm trying to run Fedora linux on it and it seems not to detect marvel raid controller. I tried compiling AACRAID by adding PCI vendorID & deviceID of the controller, but it doesn't seem to work. Does anyone else have the same problem as mine..!? Please Help..!! Thanks in advance...!
Re: Linux drivers for adaptec 1230xa Raid controller
Hey!
Even i have a similar problem, It seems there might not be drivers available. I noticed there are two other SATA ports on the motherboard. What controller controls those? Just the main Intel one? Could I plug the drives into that one and have the O/S detect them then? Please help Guys!
Thanks
Re: Linux drivers for adaptec 1230xa Raid controller
Hey!
Actually, let me verify. The manual says it's a Marvell 88SX5040 but it comes up with Adaptec firmware, calling it a HostRAID 1230XA. Is the manual correct? Or is there something i'm missing out or am somewhere incorrect..!? Do reply..!
Re: Linux drivers for adaptec 1230xa Raid controller
Hey!
I did not get the original install to work on the Marvell controller either. The other two ports are Intel ICH5R ports, for which there are linux drivers available. I have installed the OS on drives connected to those controllers. I don't recall what the drives showed up as in the OS with the Marvell controller... What shall be done in such case?
Re: Linux drivers for adaptec 1230xa Raid controller
Hey!
This is what i found out:
"Marvell Technologies has developed the raid chipset being used on the SuperMicro boards in conjunction with Adaptec who is the developer of the Firmware versionings. This chip will not support any other versions of Linux until Adaptec releases the support. Adaptec never gives out source code so that is out of the picture. Yes the manual is correct. Redhat 7,8,9 Suse 8.1, 9.0 are only supported at this time."
