Gigabyte EP-45 DS3R cmos failure?
hi,
I have a problem with my computer,Instead of the normal POST screen it shows cmos failure then the default start screen,The strange is that the manual settings for the timing is off, but still intact, that means I only need to manually set and get back the timing.no, the computer is not overclocked. I use it regularly, however, as at present, does the problem actually very limited. is that problem related to the BIOS battery?Another problem, the computer during the cold boot is always a beep.Any help will be extremely appreciated.
Re: Gigabyte EP-45 DS3R cmos failure?
The CMOS memory holds the BIOS settings that you define in the BIOS setup program. This memory is powered using a battery so that the settings are not lose when you turn off the power to the system. Many motherboards do not test the status of this battery and will just indicate problems with the CMOS memory when the battery fails, but some motherboards can detect when the battery is no longer functioning.
The CMOS battery has probably failed, if the system was previously working; if it is a new system, this could be a motherboard problem.

Generally, when you have a CMOS battery failure, your system clock will reset to "time zero" and your CMOS BIOS options will go back to their defaults.
Try rebooting your computer, but get into BIOS setup. While there, try setting your system clock to the current date and time. See if that fixes the problem.
