Excel File Format Not Recognized
Hi everyone.
After a system Which has windows Xp installed Got Crashed I lost my work, but after recovery, when I try to open some of my Excel files it makes me an error message. "Impossible to recognize the format of file ". I work with Office 2003 and Windows XP.please help me Find the solution for this problem.thank you in advance for your replies

All versions of Excel since 97 use the same file format, so no conversion is necessary. If you can't open the file, it is probably corrupt.

Sometimes I find that Open Office Calc is much more successful when attempting to open damaged Excel files than Excel itself - it might be worth downloading it (it's free, do a Google search) and giving it a try. Possibly, even if this works, you may not be able to recover all your data though (as .xls is not the OO program's native format).

This happened to me also so I lost my all the files. But luckily I had a backup external, so I have all of it recovered, hey Have you tried a System Restore?
