HDD device port location internal or external???
Hi all! I have a RAID 0 of 2xST3500320AS and I've got Intel Matrix Storage installed and this program tells me the following:
-First HDD is on Device Port 4 and as location it has Device Port Location: Internal.
-Second HDD is on Device Port 5 and as location it has Device Port Location: External.
Now...what is the difference between Internal/External and is this normal having in consideration this is a RAID 0? Shouldn't they have the same Device Port Location? If something is wrong, what should I do? So far, everything goes well but I was just wondering.....
Please someone who could give me a good answer...
Re: HDD device port location internal or external???
Hey...!
I suggest you to Google around for a while... After all Google is our friend...! :bleh: Well the one disk which you cannot remove is the one in which the OS resides... That will always be the internal drive...! Others can be removed with software control... So those are external device... Not sure though...!
All the best...!
Re: HDD device port location internal or external???
Device Port Location: Internal means the HDD has to be fitted internally within the system that cannot be removed(...it is fitted with screws in that location).
Device Port Location: External means the HDD has to be fitted outside or external to the system that can be easily removed (when the tranfer is over). They are fitted with the cord at the port locations.
Re: HDD device port location internal or external???
Ok, but I have RAID 0 and they should theoretically be both internal in my opinion....
