XP does't go to sleep mode when laptop lid is closed
Has had XP before and have the attitude that when I close the lid that nothing is done (the data do not put themselves in sleep ect)
I have Windows XP on my laptop and I have a habit of closing the lip of the laptop when not doing anything on it for some time. But now when I open the lid again, I cannot find the previous data on which I was working. That is, the laptop is not putting itself in sleep mode when the lid is closed.
Is this the problem of laptop or XP? have been looking for solution for this but in vain.
Re: XP does't go to sleep mode when laptop lid is closed
Type in "power options" in the search box and press enter. On the left side there is the option "Choose what closing the lid does", click it. Now you can choose what will happen when the lid is closed, when you press the power button etc..
Re: XP does't go to sleep mode when laptop lid is closed
You can also get there by selecting Control Panel / Full Control Panel Items / Power Options. Or even easier right-click the battery icon in the taskbar and select Power Options.

Many thanks for the solution. In the power option, the sleep mode was not active. I dont understand how this happened automatically! Anyways, now set it to sleep mode and now working fine.
