I am using the HDMI connection and when connected to my flatscreen, Itunes music doesnt play on the tv or surround sound. Everything else from the computer is seen and heard on the television just fine.
Any suggestions to remedy this?

After importing song files into Windows media I discovered I could play to the flatscreen and surround sound components. I still however cant play from itunes.
I'd rather play from itunes because the setup is more familiar and a more organized.
The setup is a Toshiba 52" with bose acoustimass surround pushed by a Sony STR DE-825 reciever.
I am using a radio shack HDMI cord to the televisions HDMI jack in the rear of the unit.
When in itunes, I can hear the factory loaded windows bells and whistles on the television and surround, but I cant hear itunes music or sounds. I am beginning to think it is a itunes programming to prevent pirating. I cant find any other settings to check in itunes, and itunes plays through the head phone jack when I plug desktop speakers in.
