This new generation of the format of memory card from Sony will go up to 2TB of capacity, as SDXC cards recently announced by Panasonic. They are however a little slower, since Sony and Sandisk have announced a rate of 60 Mb / s, against 100 to 300 Mb / s announced at Panasonic.
The two accomplices also announce another format, "Memory Stick Micro HG", which will succeed the current cards Memory Stick Micro. As its name suggests, these cards take a miniature, and the new generation will be faster thanks to an 8-bit parallel interface, with a frequency of 60 MHz. This will allow these cards to reach a theoretical maximum throughput of 60 Mb / s, if the memory read, obviously. In comparison, the current Memory Stick Micro cards have a 4-bit interface to 40 MHz.
All declinations combined formats, Sony expects to exceed 500 million Memory Stick cards sold in 2009.
