Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method
Now install ubuntu on Windows partition without having to remove windows.
Ubuntu's new guided partition method resizes windows partition and lets you choose the amount of disk space to assign for windows and ubuntu. thats totally GUI based. Now even noob users [new to linux] can install ubuntu without having to loose their windows OS! Smart Development! The most important thing about ubuntu is on its home page titled as "The Ubuntu Promise."

Re: Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method
Can you be more specific on how to perform this Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method?
Re: Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method
Well as far as i know we can not only install linux distribution on the same drive where windows is installed.
If we have windows on C: then linux can be installed on D: but not on C:
Since Linux OS is totally secured from windows you can not see your files of linux partition when you are in windows.
So if this Ubuntu distribution is going to alter the windows partition ie. C: then will the files on linux remain visible for windows?
Can you explain how this is possible with Ubuntu 8.10?
Re: Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method
Boot with Ubuntu CD, then fill in the necessary info, when you come at the select partition screen click on the guided partition option. there will be a logical image showing the partition information. When you select the guided partition method ubuntu will just resize the first partition where windows is install. and there will be a slider for size decision. means you decide what size you want to give to ubuntu and linux as well... Quite easy now, huh??
Go on...! Give it a try...! all the best!
Re: Ubuntu's Guided Partition Method
OK
Now I got your point the Ubuntu makes space for itself in C: and installs itself.
