Dvd no longer works in Windows Vista
I just bought a Dell 15 days ago.
Everything worked perfectly and there, since yesterday, my DVD player no longer recognizes any CD, DVD etc ... The reader is always detected by windows but it will not play anything.
Having appealed for Dell assistance, made its last test by phone and have concluded that the player works well but the problem is with some software (Alcohol, for example) as well drive on boot cd at booting PC. The problem arises only in Windows. Same once with Alcohol 52% uninstall. Any idea please? Thank you.

You are supposed to go to the registry, find {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} and delete the upper and lower filters. See support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/314060 for complete details. In my case, however, I cannot find the upper and lower filters. I have attached a copy of the registry key and if someone can tell me where the upper and lower filters are I will be eternally grateful.

Copy the files onto a usb stick and then load onto your computer. Could be that the programs are not compatible, one computer could be windows 98, or xp and the other vista or later
Re: Dvd no longer works in Windows Vista
Have you tried to look in device manager and see if it shows up there. If so delete it and windows should redetect it.
For dangfoo try to unplug it and reboot. Then shutdown replug it and boot up.
If this fails goto add new hardware and see if that finds it.
If not then use add hardware again but do not use the auto detect and install it manually by choosing from a list that it will give you.
