Software to prohibit access to an external drive.

I am going to buy WD (320GB), I would like to know if anyone knows a program that would protect access to the hard disk with a password or other things ... ?

I tried to search but I found nothing very conclusive, I was not sure what to put as keywords ...

One solution is data encryption. For example, in WD, HD Passport (2.5 ") come with Dmailer software, which lets you synchronize data between a computer and the external HD, with encryption of data transmitted over it.

Anyway I formatted to NTFS ... But what you mean by encryption, I seek a solution but I do not want to take another hard disk ... I just search software ...
