Lag spikes in Games due to Momentus XT APM spindown feature
There are 2 Seagate Momentus XT 500Gb HDDs along with a Corsair C300 256Gb SSD. both of them installed on ASus motherboard. Other than this i have high end configuration running Windows 7 x64. when i run heavy applications and sometimes games i can sense the lag spikes frequently and everything suddenly freezes up. this was started only after installing Seagate Momentus XT 500Gb. Anyone else notice the same?
Re: Lag spikes in Games due to Momentus XT APM spindown feature
you should know that when you use an application, Windows 7 uses the buffer to manage the local network. In case of heavy use, the memory set is not enough: for this, the setting is done via the registry in order to improve performance and avoid cuts related to this lack time
Re: Lag spikes in Games due to Momentus XT APM spindown feature
If the lag is regular, you may have a stain, an application or service in the background using the CPU every 30 seconds (running a program, or other).
It is a lag in terms of framerate or your connection? (FPS or lagometre?)
If it is a connection problem, use an Ethernet cable to your modem or router if you're using USB ...

It's not normal that your game is always the most especially if you have left to look in Task Manager.
The there should be a problem with your Windows 7, a driver improperly installed or poorly managed, or otherwise, it becomes complicated to solve like that. Put your drivers up to date, if not reinstall Win7 on another hard drive if you can and test a game, or reinstall your game.
