I have iphone 4 updated to IOS5. While connecting my iphone 4 to iTunes 10.5 there is a problem . my iTunes is stuck in the step 2 of 4 back up while syncing. I don’t have any idea how much time it will take I already have wasted my 25 minutes in these. Do you have any idea how much time it will take? Or is there any problem with these iTunes?

This problem is the same that I was facing. I have done these steps:
1) Quit the iTunes software.
2) Then start menu and select all programs. There after select the accessories
3) After right click the command prompt.
4) Run as administrator.
5) In the command prompt type "netsh winsock reset” and then hit enter.
6) Then reboot you system afterwards restart the iTunes.

I have several steps to fix this issue.
1) I have flushed the DNS again. As administrator I have run the command prompt and then typed typed: ipconfig/flushdns.
2) Emptied these three: internet explorer cookies/cache/history
3) Added the following URL in the (Spyware doctor) antivirus like
- itunes.apple.com
4) Reset the Winsock again

These were the problem with me. Then I followed these steps. First go to ‘C’ drive:
1) Then select Documents and Settings.
2) Then click user and then Application Data.
3) Select Apple Computer and there you will find iTunes.
4) There is section called iTunesPrefs.xml.
5) All you have to do is add 2 lines in the “user preferences” section
<key>User Preferences</key>
<dict>
<key>DeviceBackupsDisabled</key>
<data>dHJ1ZQ==</data>
This disable the back up process
Re: iphone backup process stuck in iTunes 10.5 step 2 of 4.
While in my case I solve this problem by uninstalling certain things.
1) As recommended by apple I have removed all the apple software.
2) Then reinstalled iTunes, safari and QuickTime.
3) Then loaded the iTunes to see the conflict was resolved.
4) In command prompt I have typed netsh windsock reset.
5) Then restarted my PC.
6) Loaded up the iTunes and then plugged the iphone.
Thereafter the problem was no more.
