Cannot update firmware on Kingston HyperX 3k SSD
I am using a Kingston HyperX 3k SSD 120Gb and there is a problem updating firmware on it. I have purchased it recently and using it first time. When I in my admin account the SSDNow Software updater usually detects the SSD, but if I am checking the box next to the ssd and press "update firmware" then it gives me a red X over the ssd instead of giving me green check mark? I am on Windows 7 and this SSD is plugged in the Sata port and there is nothing wrong in the setup. Is there anyone who can solve this issue? Thanks.
Re: Cannot update firmware on Kingston HyperX 3k SSD
I think that there might be some problem with the Sata port, so what you can do is, try to connect the SSD to another Sata port and see if that is working fine or not. Also, are you using the Sata cable that came with the SSD or using other one?
Re: Cannot update firmware on Kingston HyperX 3k SSD
I dont think there are any firmware updates for the HyperX 3K drives till now, you can check for some refrence from here - http://www.kingston.com/us/support/t...H103_503fw_win. Until now, the 503 firmware version is for the HyperX non-3K drives only. In any case you can try to contact them and see if there are any firmware updates available for this drive or not.

Even I was facing the same issue but what I did to solve it was to remove the Intel AHCI driver. After that I restarted my pc and let the Operating System install its own AHCI drive. And at that time the firmware update utility recognized the drive and it properly worked for me. If this is not working then you can try to connect it up as a secondary drive on different system and update it from there.
