Hi,
What error You get when it fails installation. if you did install the motherboard drivers might be necessary for a USB connection on it. if it is USB, do other USB devices like USB mouse or a USB memory stick or a USB external disk work correctly.
Re: Problem installing HP laserjet 1020 USB
I receive the following error message:
"Cannot install this hardware. There was a problem installing this hardware (HP Laserjet 1020). An error occurred during the installation of the device: The driver installation file for this device is missing a necessary entry. This may be because th INF was written for Windows 95 or later. Contact your hardware vendor. Click Finish to close the wizard."
Re: Problem installing HP laserjet 1020 USB
The cause of this error is not well understood at this time and is still under investigation. First, make sure the USB cable you are using is a USB 2.0 cable and that it isn't damaged and second - the issue may be related to either SP3 or IE8. You could try rolling back to see if that resolves.
Re: Problem installing HP laserjet 1020 USB
I solved the problem this way:
Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Device Manager
Right click on - USB2Enhanced Host Controller - Disable
This way I could instal my HP LaserJet 1020 Printer .
