Can I play games on Dell Vostro 2520

I want to buy a new laptop. I saw Dell 2520 on flipkart. I want some information on the performance here. This laptop looks great. It has 3rd Generation Intel Core i3 series processor. It has 4GB ram and 500GB internal hard drive. That looks to be awesome. But I need a bit of gaming performance also. Will I be able to play games like Saint Rows on it.

For gaming you require a gpu. And this laptop offer you Intel HD Graphics 4000. Which is not enough for gaming. You can play games like GTA San Andreas, From Dust, Prototype 1, etc at low settings.

Yes for gaming you require a dedicated video memory. If you check on Flipkart there is one more model. It is Dell 2420. This laptop offers you 2nd generation Intel Core i3 series processor. It is loaded with Nvidia 1GB gpu. It is not great but good for gaming. This laptop is capable of playing all games. If you want you can simply upgrade the ram to 4GB and get more performance from it. Any laptop that does not comes with a graphic card will not be fair for gaming purpose. Now if you want to go with budget then you can go for other models. There are laptops which comes with APU and good graphic memory. This are great for gaming purpose. The benefit of Core i3 is that is works fine on low power. If we take gaming seriously then there are very few models available.And all of them are above Rs.30,000. One among them is HP Pavilion G6-2301AX . This has a quad core gpu and 2.5GB, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 7670M graphics. This is more than enough for gaming. You can play all high end games at full resolution. I think if you need a budget model then Dell 2420 looks to be the best budget laptop.

The issue with laptop is that you cannot upgrade it. It comes with default configuration and it will stay the same forever. Why don't you go for a desktop. It will give you more upgrade choices. Like you can upgrade a gpu, ram and processor in future.
