    Dell XPS 15 not charging

I have a Dell XPS 15 laptop. It having some kind of power issue. I usually keep it connected to the power outlet all the time so that it can remain charged 100%. Now from last few days there is severe charging problem. First the battery failed to charge. I removed the battery and I am using it directly over the power adapter. Now that also stopped working. I have to remove the power jack and insert it back a number of time until the power indicator light glows up. Then only it turn on. The light does not remain stable. How to fix the issue.

The best thing you can do is carry the laptop to your Dell repair center. Do not mess with the system. The issue can be with the power adapter. Try changing that. If that does not work just carry it to service center.

If it is under warranty then I think you will get a free repair on that. But if not then you will need to pay for it. Your power jack is damage. I had faced the same issue on my Samsung system. It is essential that you must do not keep it connected all the time. You must disconnect the laptop when charging is full.It puts impact on the battery. In my system somehow my wife has damaged the power jack. She improperly removes the power adapter form the back side due to which every time when I connect it to the power socket the power led does not glows. I have to move it towards upside and it worked. My laptop was not under warranty due to which I have to around Rs.1200 to a local guy to get it fixed. Later I came to know that if I took that directly to service center the cost on that was minimal. Do not just try to mess with the back port. It is sensitive and can be damage easily due to improper handling. Just take it to the repair center they will replace the port and the issue will be resolved. I do not think any other thing can help you.

Did you tried to change the power source. You said that you are not able to use it on the battery. You are using it directly on power outlet. That means your laptop battery is damage.

The issue lies with defective power port. That is a common issue. It is not a costly repair. It can also be fixed by any local laptop repair shop. Do not pay high amount for the repairs. And next time you have to take care while using your system. The above person says right, you must not keep the laptop connected to a power outlet all the time. Just leave it aside and use it on battery. Recharge it completely only when the battery is completely drained off. On web there are set of repair kits available which can be helpful in fixing the same. But that can be complicated if you do not know how to open your laptop and replace the power jack. Best carry the same to the repair center, that would do the job.
