Acer Aspire 3820TGG graphic card driver for windows 8

I have installed windows 8 in my Acer Aspire 3820TGG laptop and I have installed almost all required driver for the same. However, I am bit confused in deciding the required graphic card driver. I have checked out acer official site and there are 8 VGA drivers. I don’t know which one to choose, I don’t want to run in to any issue after installing the incorrect one, and so can anyone point me to the required driver?? Quick help regarding this will be highly appreciated.

You should install the latest version of the driver. If your laptop is having Radeon HD 5650 or Radeon HD 5470 switchable graphic card then you can install below one:
Description - VGA Driver (Radeon HD 5650 & Radeon HD 5470)
Vendor – AMD
Version - 8.752.0.0
Size - 195.3 MB
Date - 01/31/2011
It’s the very first driver in VGA driver list. If it doesn’t have a switchable graphic card then you can install the one below VGA Driver (Radeon HD 5650 & Radeon HD 5470). Hope that end’s your confusion.

Ok, thanks for that. My laptop does have switchable graphic card but for some reason device manager doesn’t display the model number of the card. VGA Driver (Radeon HD 5650 & Radeon HD 5470) seems to be specific for Radeon HD 5650 & Radeon HD 5470, isn’t it????

Yes they seem to be specific for Radeon HD 5650 & Radeon HD 5470. Anyways in that case you can try installing below one:
Description - VGA Driver
Vendor – ATI
Version - 8.713.3.3000
Size - 198.2 MB
Date - 06/09/2010

Same thing happened what I was afraid of. I downloaded VGA Driver 8.713.3.3000 and followed the instruction for installing it. In the end it said that there are 3 ATI drivers and software installed in ATI folder but after cross checking, I found the folder empty. I just see the ATI installer which was installed after running the downloaded file, nothing else. What should I do now???

That’s weird, just uninstall the ATI installer and re-download and install VGA Driver from intel. I know they are not the latest version but I can’t think of anything else that might help in this case. Just make sure that you are installing ATI installer completely from your system. You can use uninstaller like driver sweeper or some other if you have.

The reason VGA Driver 8.713.3.3000 did not worked for you is because it is not compatible with windows 8 yet. I think you haven’t checked out the supported operating system list.
Acer official site only has below operating system supported driver for your Aspire 3820TGG.

You can try installing this driver:
AMD Catalyst Driver Windows 8 Release Preview http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/w...se_preview.exe , I know it’s for Release Preview but it might work with your current version. I guess it’s the only driver supporting below cards.
