Is it possible to utilize OS 7.1 on BlackBerry Bold 9700

Is it possible to install or upgrade to generic copy of OS 7.1 on a Blackberry Bold 9700. I have looked for this information all over online but didn’t find anything regarding it. I would like to have Wifi hotspot on my 9700 and this is the only reason I want to upgrade my phone to OS 7.1

I also posted and asked many many times but didn’t get any answer yet from any source. Then I came to know that BB Bold 9700 doesn't have enough memory and processing power to run OS 7. The current specification is only compatible to run till OS 6.

Yes. I know the same. The closest and compatible OS which you can run is version 6.0 which looks somewhat similar to 7.0. The only difference is here you can navigate with the trackpad instead of the touchscreen. So the Bold 9700 does not have touchscreen. Currently I am running 6.0.0.499 and it looks like it is running 7.0 without the touchscreen. The problem is it uses much amount of RAM. Sometimes you need to pull up the battery in order free up the memory from the application.

Still there are lot more issues with DLNA push, the Bluetooth, Media Player along with the OS which refusing the charging the battery through the card chargers. I hope that these issues will be get fixed very soon.

T-Mobile had released OS 7.1 for BlackBerry Bold 9900 enabling calls over WiFi, Mobile HotSpots, Commercial Mobile Alert System, and the BlackBerry Device Analyzer. Please note that you can install this firmware even if your phone is branded. I have not personally tried the firmware. Any damage will be attributable solely to their responsibilities or bugs inherent in the firmware. In any case, the updates in most cases are successful given the numerous tests that must pass to be officially published by the carriers.
