Motorola Droid 4 showing just 8GB internal memory, instead of 16 GB

I got Motorola Droid 4. As per the advertisements, it should have 16 GB of internal memory. But it has just 8GB of internal space. I suppose this is a faulty piece and I should get it replaced ASAP.

There is no fault in your phone. There is nothing wrong with the advertisement. The phone has 16GB of internal memory space. The only hidden part is that, out of 16GB, only 8GB is open for user storage.The other 8GB is composed as follows:
1) 5 GB internal memory space is reserved for O.S. and for installing its updates.
2) 3 GB is reserved for applications.

If you need more memory, you can use an external memory card.
