unable to update BIOS for Toshiba Satellite A665-S6070

I have Toshiba Satellite A665-S6070 which got into a problem. After over-discharge the battery won’t charge. After some research I found that usually updating BIOS solves this sort of problems. I tried to update BIOS, but it gave me error saying that it can’t update as battery is less than 20% charged. How do I update BIOS if this is the problem?

First, always do BIOS update only when laptop is working on AC charge. If your laptop is updating BIOS on charged battery and by any chance the battery gets drained enough to shut down the laptop, it could seriously damage the system board. Also, no application should be running in background while BIOS update as it tends to restart system without any prior notice. This may lead to loss of unsaved data.

OK, so I followed your suggestions and had my laptop on AC charge before attempting another try at updating BIOS. But now battery has stopped charging completely. A soon as I pull the plug of AC charge, laptop shuts down instantly.

Now, I tried to run the BIOS update setup from Windows and it gave me 3 options:
1) BIOS version above 2.20.
2) Battery capacity more than 20%.
3) AC power is attached.

I could not understand what these options meant so now I’m burning the setup on bootable disk. When I started booting the disc, it gave me an error saying, ‘power less than 20%’ even though it is plugged on AC charge.

If you laptop is year old from the date of purchase, the battery will be under warranty. You can get the battery replace at the Toshiba store for free.
