Wi-Fi Proximity bug while making video call on Skype installed on Android device

We know that all the Android phones are choppy while doing Skype voice call. Especially when proximity sensor is triggered also same thing happens when you are making call through Wi-Fi connection. I am suspecting that it’s a bug. Put your thought over here on the above mentioned topic.

According to me issue is associated with Wi-Fi connection. Most of the android phones are making use of Wi-Fi module to PSP mode when display is kept turn off in order to save battery. You can confirm by connecting charger and simply make a Skype Voice call making touch proximity sensor to off. You will not get choppy sound after doing that. However you have to keep your charger connected to phone. android phone did not supposed to switch to Wi-Fi module to PSP mode when phone is connected with charger.

Another thing which you can do to confirm the issue.
Make sure that phone and chargers are disconnected and make Skype Voice call. Now run ping on phone from computer and you will get following output.
Pinging 192.168.1.240 with 32 bytes of data:
    Reply from 192.168.1.240: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

    Reply from 192.168.1.240: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=6
Once you have proximity sensor off you will get following output.
    Reply from 192.168.1.240: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=64

There is fix available for Android 2.3 but it is not used on most of the phone available.

I was also suffering from the above mentioned issue. I switched off the phone and root my android phone. After that replaced driver with custom version of the driver. Custom version driver did not supposed to switch off into the low power mode.

If you are using HTC device then following steps can help you out to fix the matter.
    • You have to go for Menu and go for Settings.
    • Now go for Wireless and networks and go for Wi-Fi Settings.
    • You have to go for Advanced and simply check Best Wi-Fi Performance checkbox.

As far as I know Skype developer can easily fix the issue by simply adding an option into the skype settings. They should provide a button to disable the usage of Proximity sensor. They should make the above mentioned changes and release the patch so that millions of the users who are using Skype on Android will fix the problem.
