need reset bios password to dell inspiron 1520

Please help. My mom is in canada and i live here in the states and she is not computer savy and cannot afford dell's 70 dollar fix and for a 50/50 shot. They are scam artists

There are two ways which can help you here. First removing the CMOS battery and putting it back. The batter is located below the modem. Below the laptop you will need to open the panels. The modem is on the front side with kind of bar code sticker on it. Below that the cmos battery is located wrapped in blue coat and has a 3 pin connector to the motherboard. Remove the same and wait for sometime put it back. If you cannot do, then leave this and ask someone helps.

Second option is by called Dell Customer Service. Every laptop has a master password. You can only get this by contacting the Dell Technical Support. You will need to give the Service Tag and Express Service code which is listed below the laptop.

You have to get into safe mode by pressing f 8 a bunch of times as the computer boots up, once youe in save mode go to start / run and then type "control userpasswords2" without the quotes. And now edit the password you want. Hope that helps you out.

There is two master passwords on the same time for your case:
the first one is: (hc4erqms) (you can use this always : only for your laptop)
the second password is (n4dvw4de) it's used only if display: #***********-595B, this one clear the protection from HD after using the first password.

you have to write the complete service tag to I can help you (like #123456-595B)

This is a bios reset. They do not even get to a windows boot where F8 is possible.
