How to configure yahoo and hotmail in HTC wildfire s

HI I have purchased this HTC wildfire S and I've not been able to configure my Hotmail and Yahoo! accounts to work appropriately, through the Android Mail application on my hTC and therefore was about to configure the settings. I have never done ever before and that’s why i don’t know exactly how to do that. Thus, I would be better if someone just let me know how can i do that to my mobile. any suggestion will be appreciated.

I used the Quick Steps section, which permit me to extremely rapidly set-up my Hotmail account, through the "Exchange ActiveSync" option. This worked presently fine for me I could send and receive e-mails with the following mentioned details thus i would also suggest you to configure with this settings only. You can find this under "Account settings" option.

    Email address: <emailaddress>@hotmail.com
    Server address: m.hotmail.com
    Username: <emailaddress>@hotmail.com
    Password: <password for email address>
This server requires an encrypted SSL connection: check this checkbox.

Re: How to configure yahoo and hotmail in HTC wildfire s

i am not sure about yahoo, but i have configured hotmail account and that i have mentioned just below:

In setting you’ll get the following mentioned option.

    Email address: <email>@hotmail.com
    Password: <password>
Show password: depending on your need.
As you completed with this you have to now click "Manual setup" option. Then, on the next screen you’ll get the following mentioned option:
    Protocol: POP
    Email address: <emailaddress>@hotmail.com
    Username: <emailaddress>@hotmail.com
    Password: <password>
    POP server: pop3.live.com
    Security type: SSL
    Server port: 995

Once you finished with this click "Next", if all is fine you should progress to the next section of the set-up Otherwise, you will get an error "Warning. Cannot connect to the mail server..."

it's recommended that you click "OK", rather than "Continue", as you require to determine your problems, before proceeding to the next section.
On the "Outgoing server settings" section:

    Login required: check that checkbox
    Username: <emailaddress>@hotmail.com
    Password: <password for email address>
    SMTP server: smtp.live.com
    Security type: TLS
    Server port: 587

Click "Next" - if all is fine, you should progress to the final section:

Account name: "Hotmail" (or choose whatever you like to call it)
    Your name: <whatever you like>

Make this my default mail account: mark this box, if you desire Hotmail to come into view in the widget as the first account you observe and lastly Click "Finish setup".

Re: How to configure yahoo and hotmail in HTC wildfire s

you have to do the same thing for yahoo account as well, see i have mentioned all the steps.

    Email address: abc@yahoo.co.uk
    Password: <password >
Show password: whatever you want and then click "Manual setup" option. Then, on the next screen:

    Protocol: IMAP
    Email address: abc@yahoo.co.uk
    Username: abc@yahoo.co.uk
    Password: password
    IMAP server: imap.mail.yahoo.com
    Security type: None
    Server port: 143

If you are getting any error then you should follow this steps as well,
On the "Outgoing server settings" section:

Login required: mark off this box
    Username: abc@yahoo.co.uk
    Password: password
    MTP server: smtp.mobile.mail.yahoo.com
    Security type: None
    Server port: 587

Click "Next" - if all is well, you should progress to the final section:
Account name: "Yahoo!" (or choose whatever you like to call it)
Your name: whatever name you want
    Click "Finish setup".

Re: How to configure yahoo and hotmail in HTC wildfire s

second user- Hey thanks dude for the configuration, but I want to set up my Yahoo account. I follow your first step till server port: 143. Every time I click Next, it constantly getting error message saying "Authentication Failed. Please verify your username/password" even though my username and password are proper. Is there any idea what is happening over here?

And apart from this Correct me if I'm incorrect but this will only work for "yahoo.co.uk" and "yahoo.com" suffix and won’t work with "ymail.com" accounts?

Yeah exactly i am agree with the above user as i have also tried with the .ymail and it seems nothing happening correctly with the phone. i think it would be good to log a call with either hTC or Yahoo! Either of them should be able to assist.
