iPhone 4 after iOS 5 update keeps searching for network and stays with no service

Okay - tried all of the above suggestions and just tried to plug it into my laptop - however, it's not even recognising iTunes. Not a happy bunny here.

Okay - tried all of the above suggestions and just tried to plug it into my laptop - however, it's not even recognising iTunes. Not a happy bunny here.

You mean your iphone is not recognizing itunes, then there might an issue with the phone. Try the below fix:

1. With the iPhone plugged it, close iTunes
2. Go to your Control Panel
3. Open up Administrative Tools (This name may vary depending on your language. The icon shows a folder, a computer and a hummer)
4. Open up Services
5. Locate the service "Apple Mobile Device"
6. Now open up iTunes, and your iPhone should show up!
