It should be a simple software problem in Windows XP.
- Insert the Windows XP CD into the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- Restart the computer.
- Boot from the Windows XP CD.
Note: The computer must be configured to boot from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive.
- When booted press R to start Recovery Console.
- Press 1 to access your primary drive using Recovery Console.
- When prompted, type the administrator password. If you do not have an administrator password, just press ENTER.
- Type "COPY X: \ i386NTLDR C:
COPY X: \ i386NTDETECT.COM C: "
Replace X with your CD-ROM Drive letter.
- For safety, also enter the command "FIXBOOT".
- At this point the computer restarts, Windows XP should start (at least in safe mode).
