I am suffering from the problem of no applicable update for hard drive of my ps3 160gb (UK) to a WD Scorpio 500gb 2.5" SATA drive. For this reason I had read on the many forums but no proper response for my question and also I am sure that I am following the right step for upgrading my hard drive. I am not sure that what next to do with my PS3 hard drive to upgrade it. I also want to know that is there any limit on the HDD size to PS3 can handle?

I will suggest you to use or try for the other USB hard drive to store your update file for your PS3 hard drive. You can also use the other Pendrive for storing the update file. I am saying this thing because I had done this thing for update my PS3 hard drive. I was also suffering from the same problem. Try to check for the latest update for your hard drive, it is there on the web.

Hey hi, I am facing the same problem, but in my case I am have tried with the several USB drives and also have tried with the burned update on CD but still no response. But at the finishing point it tells that no update file found. For that I had searched on the web and find the solution. They told me to use the USB drives to store my update file and then I do as they directed. It really helps me a lot and I am sure that in your case also it will help you.

While updating my 500GB hard drive, I am also facing the same problem. But in this case I know that my PS3 in not able to handle or not able to support the 500GB. So for that reason I use my 16GB memory stick for storing the update files. The only solution is to use the other external or Try another USB harddrive or pendrive to save your update file on your system.

For me, it was still like a problem, I am to no able to the 500GB drive with 160GB UK version PS3. But after getting some suggestion from the forums, i get out of this problem. The solution is to try all the documents install procedure. Let me tell you that before this make sure that both the USB media stick + 500GB drive are formatted to FAT32.

U need a flash drive open flash drive on your pc, make a new folder lable PS3. Open it and make another file in your PS3 file and in all CAPS lable it UPDATE. In that file drop your updated download in it. Link

PS3 + UPDATE + your system software that u downloaded

Turn on PS3 to safe mode. If it says that u neen updatde system data 4.00 or less shit then plug in your Flash drive and press and hold start+ select. Then it shoud Say checking. It will do this for a while go watch some porn or something on your pc. If it works the rest is easy it will ask u to restore or reformat i dont remember and all that shit. Hope that bull shit helps.
