Is it possible to root mt4g with z4root?

My dad gifted me an mt4g since two days ago when I had my birthday party and I am very happy for this phone. But now I have serious problem in my mind is that is it possible to root the mt4g with the z4root? I want this because I want to update the mobile phone with the latest version of the z4root.
