In Dell 3008WFP is the HDMI port of version 1.3

I have been having a new Dell 3008WFP which I got a few days back. But now I am having a problem with it though. The problem is that my Dell 3008WFP only displays a desktop resolution of up to 1920x1200 over the HDMI cable. But according to my knowledge it should show a resolution of up to 2560x1600 as it does over the dual-link DVI cable. So my question is that can anyone tell me if the HDMI port on this monitor is version 1.3.Please do get back to me on this as I am waiting for the answers.

I just went through your question and believe that there are many who are suffering from this issue. I think that in order to get 2560X1600 over HDMI you will need Type B HDMI connectors and cable. But if you look closely then you will come to know that there are very few devices that use type B. Also the display port will support 2560x1600 but I am not sure that what benefit you would get with a DVI to display port adapter when the monitor has a DVI port.

I feel that the HDCP should be supported over the dual-link DVI cable as that is what the dell website says. I have checked this particular thing on dell website and it stated this in its list of features on the Dell 3008WFP. However I have a Gigabyte ATI Radeon 4850 card but I keep on getting an error message of HDPC and it says that it is not supported over DVI. So don’t know what to do further so any help would be very useful to me.

According to me the reason for using a DVI display port adapter is to make the HDCP compliant over the display port cable and to get 2560x1600 desktop resolution. This is because the HDMI only goes up to 1920x1200 unless you use the very rare type B HDMI as stated in the previous solution. So probably that is the way to go forward and I guess you need to get Type B HDMI connectors and cable to fix this issue. I am sure once you use it then all will be fine with you.

I looked at your problem and then spoke to the technical support on your behalf from dell and they told me this is HDMI 2.0.Another thing that the technical support told me was that there is no specification information they can find out to answer me what is the HDMI version of this 3008 monitor is. So that was very strange from their part. I have the blue screen problem with HDMI connection too but don’t know if the type B HDMI will work for me or not.

Thanks a lot for all your suggestions and solutions. I think that the best possible way to solve this solution is by Type B HDMI connectors and cable. But then I dearly hope that it will work for me properly. I need to get it as early as possible I am still getting the desktop resolution of up to 1920x1200 over the HDMI cable. So I would like to once again thank you and appreciate you for providing me with the solutions as they have helped me a lot.
