I will ask you to purchase a Belkin hub and it is been quite well since Leopard:I quite agree and believe that you should go with the Belkin hub , if you lunge for quantity then it will definitely give you some sort of issue , but for a 4 or 7 Port Belkin it is being said that it is a Mac OS X compatible then it must not result in any sort of problem. I will give you my example in that case : I have been using a 7 Port Belkin F5U259-ME for more than 3 years and along with it I am running in iMac is Tiger operating system , Leopard and Snow Leopard and it has by no means given me a single issue . It has 4 Ports on the rear end and along with it there are three handy ports, 2 on the top and 1 in the face side .

I just want to inquire that whether is this one bus powered? Hard to tell from the image and I could not locate anything that seemed similar on the Belkin site; in any situation, for myself I would only suggest hubs that are self-powered . A bus-powered hub is a hub that fetches the entire of its power from the host computer's USB crossing point. It does not require a different power connection. However, a lot of devices need more power than this technique can provide, and will not work in this kind of hub.

I too wish to comment on the category of the hub you were talking , USB current (associated with power) is assigned in units of 100 mA up to a maximum sum of 500 mA for each port. Consequently a accommodating bus powered hub can contain no more than four downstream ports and cannot suggest more than four 100 mA units of present in total to downstream devices (as one unit is required for the hub itself). If additional units of current is needed by a device than can be given by the port it is connected into, the operating system generally reports this to the user.In distinction a self-powered hub is one that receives its power from an outer power supply unit and can therefore offer full power (up to 500 mA) to each port. A lot of hubs can work as either bus powered or self powered hubs.
