New details come to filter on Android 3.0 Gingerbread, the new version of mobile OS Google. Optimized for digital tablets, it is rumored that a development kit (SDK - Software Development Kit) could be available to developers before the end of the month. Thus, the final Android 3.0 could be released in December, just months after the arrival of Android 2.2 Froyo. As for news, Gingerbread version would incorporate a video chat via instant messaging, GTalk.

Re: Android 3.0 to Add Video Chat

Apple , via iOS 4 and the iPhone 4, was introduced this tool videophone, from FaceTime tool , to move from its smartphone video calls without prior configuration. By activating a camera mounted on the back of the appliance, the holder of the new Apple smartphone can initiate a video chat session with a caller through the wireless network. This feature of video conferencing is also not for the PC from the interface GTalk Google Video. Still, the videophone made in Android 3.0 will then be supported by only a handful of smartphones to use this feature. Only a few manufacturers already offer compatible handsets, equipped with a front camera as HTC and Motorola.

Re: Android 3.0 to Add Video Chat

In terms of mobility, the current trend is to make video calls. If the video is not new, Apple has brought back into the day with his 4 and iPhone functionality FaceTime. Fring and Yahoo have responded by proposing a new version of its instant messaging client with an option a bit more flexible allowing calls over 3G connections. And Adobe to thumb its nose at Apple with its application FlashTime. Native integration of Google Video Chat should now give way to new devices that have a front camera. Some smartphones running Android are already equipped like the HTC EVO 4G running application Qik available in partnership with U.S. operator Sprint. Motorola also announced the upcoming availability of Android smartphones embedding a second camera.

Re: Android 3.0 to Add Video Chat

The problem is that Gingerbread is going to cut any need to introduce a third interface, and there is much talk of Sense of HTC. From Android 3.0, therefore, it may well be that all interfaces are identical, which will have positive and negative. Side light, one may note the coherence of the image of Android to the general public, each function is always in the same place. Shadow side, it could greatly reduce the role of manufacturers who do so will really affect the phone's hardware.
