Only a few digital cameras are now equipped with GPS receivers to automatically save the coordinates of the places in the image files. On top of this GPS cameras are quite expensive. A convenient solution, the GPS devices Garmin Oregon 550 and Oregon 550 with an integrated camera. it's cheaper with an external GPS data logger , which is less than 100 € to have already is, and offer many possibilities.

Re: What equipment do you need?

The idea of geotagging is easy. Using a GPS device or a GPS data logger records the hiking or biking tour. It joins the unit coordinate points together, resulting in a so-called GPS track. This GPS-Track also includes the time. By matching the time of GPS and digital camera photos can be provided with coordinates afterward. That is, the photo gets a Geotag or an attribute assigned. Here, the digital camera does not have a lot. You only need the digital photo with a time stamp to the image after linking with the GPS data. It is important that the time and date of the camera and the GPS receiver match as closely as possible. The sequence of such images then created veritable trip reports, understands that every where you were on vacation there and how it looked.

I would like to discuss about the equipment that are required for geotagging. You will need a digital camera, a GPS receiver or GPS device, the MagicMaps Tour Explorer for tour planning and can adjust images for free services still register to permanently locate the photos online. Turn on the GPS logger from the trip to enable it to compete with the GPS satellite contact (so-called GPS fix). Adjust the time with the camera and off you go.
