Laptop CPU advice (T9400 vs T9600)?

I was just roaming around an internet and have found something strange on one websites which sells laptops and other computer accessories. There were two processors, Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53ghz) and T9600 (2.8ghz). Both of these processor were ready to sold in same price, How can it be possible? It is natural that 2.8ghz would be faster then the 2.53ghz. All the other things are same but still, speed matters. Any idea about this?

You are very much right that it is not possible to sell these both the processors at the same price. I suggest you to check the details about both of these processor as there must be something which might be effecting the price. I guess the model number might help you as i guess the T9600 (2.8ghz) would be of older version which makes it bit cheaper.

I have no idea that the website on which you have got this information but it wont be having any information about the stepping. There were a models of T9400 with an EO stepping and the newer has CO stepping. Actually this makes difference in when you try to overclock your processor. So i suggest you to check about the same from some other website as what is the difference between the price tag of both the processors.

Its my habit that I don’t believe on cheap things so quickly as you should always think that why seller is selling the things so cheap which are not available in the same price in the market. So there must be something wrong with it. I suggest you to call to those people who are selling thing so cheap. And ask them all the information about the product and then at the end you can also ask that why are they selling it in the same price as that of T9400.

I think you should not buy a cheaper one as there might be a problem with it, have you checked that the processor about which you are checking an information is a new one. It might happen that you might be getting the used processor due to which the price of the same have gone down.
