iPod software update server - Internet not found?

I have received an unexpected error when I was doing the updation of my 5G 30G to firmware 1.2. Whenever, I click on Update or Restore, I received a pop-up which states that :

"iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your Internet connection is active and try again."
Where as , my Internet connection is active and I am surfing fine . I don't have any issue with the iTMS or other online activity for iTunes. Additionally, I have tried to turn off my firewall, but that is not getting off . Anybody got this problem before ?

I also have the same issue. After making some search regarding this, it seems as iTunes is getting some difficulties to access the Internet connection. You will figure out that the mini browser doesn't load and also doesn't seem to be able to download any album art. But it is able to connect with the ITMS properly . If you organize the network diagnostics from the "Help" menu, it suggests the message as "no active Internet connection". I am not sure why iTunes 6 worked well and I only attached a windows firewall which I have already made as off.

I got some idea to solve this issue. It's another thing that I didn't used it before but I am sure it would be helpful for you to solve this issue and if it fails or any new difficulties then post me . By the way, give it a try :-

Go to the Control panel => internet options => connections => LAN settings... Then after check the box which states that automatically detect settings. I hope it works.

In some situations , the DNS information that you machine uses to connect to the internet requires to be reset. You should follow the suggestions below to flush your Windows DNS information:

    1. Click on the Start menu and choose Run
    2. Open the field and then type the cmd and click OK.
    3. In the resulting window, type ipconfig /flushdns and issue Return on the keyboard.
    4. You should get a message that the DNS Resolver cache has been properly flushed..
