You should be knowing that retrieving mail with POP3 is supported over SSL/TLS and with StartTLS. So, put the following in your gnus-init-file is sufficient:
(setq mail-sources
'((pop :server "pop.gmail.com"
:port 995
:user "Leo@gmail.com"
:password "wrongpw"
:stream ssl)))
You should also included @gmail.com to the user name.
1. Configure your Gmail account for POP support. This is under Settings in the gmail web interface.
2. Use CVS Emacs and CVS Gnus. It won’t work any other way.
3. Replace your installation’s “pop3.el” and “pop3.elc” with those linked to from this page: http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~terjeros/wiki/GnusGmail
4. Configure as on the linked page.
Hi and thank you for this message.
Probably I not explain well.
My answer is about a Mobile Phone called F035.
This phone have inside the facility to configure all the email settings, the port 993 or 587 of gmail, also, run good with pop3 and imap4. Infact I can download from any account, but not with gmail, because inside this phone are not present the ssl/tls options.
I found inside the phone many files *.dat and anyone store some info, but are not easy editable.
I thought if will be possible write in the adress smtp something like "smtp.gmail.com :ssl" or similar.
Thanks
I found a software called PadersyncFTP v1.0.8 that you can download from the net. Basically, it is a File Manager application for mobile phones. It contains an FTP client.
PaderSyncFTP Features:
- FTP client.
- Local file system access.
- SSL/TLS encrypted control
Platform is Java J2ME.
"Me fail English!? That unpossible!"
Thanks,
jet see, is a java client. Good software.
But the problem is in the setup of the phone messaging system:
I search a way to include ssl/tls in the email application. But probably need to be included in the software/firmware application.
Anyway, if someone know how to open the firmware and modify...
ok ok... seems impossible.
At this time I use a java G-Mail, but I don't like this. Is a patch, will be better if the native email system work with ssl/tls.
Really is not possible write something like imap.gmail.com and in the same line something like :ssl or /ssl... but this are not right, I know.
Grazie
Bud
Hi budspanzer:
I do have the very same problem you had reported.
Did you found the way to configure the email settings?
I had tried Gmail, Hot mail & Yahoo but no sucess.
At the other hand I cant syncornize my Outlook neither, so my Agenda & Contacts are not in my F035.
Thanks

No, impossible. And, the native client don't support long messages, so when you have some long messages, may be really hard read.
The only way is java programs.
I have news about f030, seems work, have with another firmware, similar to this but more ahead.
For this...
I have a similar phone with me and I found that there is lots of issue for the mail settings. I used a paid software for that but that has some limitations for the mail downloads. There are some componenst which does not loads. Editing the files and settings is also not so easy due the operating system used in them. They have a very rare support.
Woow thats really bad. beacause Mail Sync is a very basic function on every todays phone.
At least Does some know how to sync the Contacts and Appointments?
I dont want to Bluetooth manually the calendar events every time a new event arrives to my calendar.
Thank you
