'No output devices found' error on Mac mini.

I came back from a three-week break and when I started my Mac mini there was no beep. Everything seems to be OK; apart from there is no sound. Sound preferences displaying, "No output devices found" and the system profiles displays that there is no built-in audio.

Has anyone seen it? It is showing something like sound chip was been removed

You said that you have gone out for three weeks I think someone has tampered with your Mac min laptop. If you remove the top case, you have to remove the plug of the speaker. According to me you should take you Mac min laptop to any local technical guy and ask him to check whether all the components of your laptops are present or not.

    Thanks for the reply,

For your information, room was locked at the time of vacation. As I said, the sound preference pane displays the message, "No output devices found". This will not happen if the software is not able to find the internal sound hardware. A detached speaker wire will mean no sound from the internal speaker, but I am having sound from the sound jack on the back of the machine. I want to anyone has idea how the Mac software recognizes what sound devices are installed?

Try to reset the PRAM for that you have to follow these steps.
    1. Shut down Mac mini.
    2. Locate the following keys: Command, Option, P, and R.
    3. Start your Mac mini.
    4. Before the gray screen appears, you have to press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys.
    5. Keep holding these keys till the computer restarts
    6. After that, release the keys.
    This will reset your PRAM

I was also facing the similar problem and solved in this manner may be this will help you
    1. First, disconnect the AC power plug.
    2. After that picked the Mac mini and shook the mini
    3. After that placed it back
    4. Then gave a little knocks on the apple logo
    5. After that plugged the AC power plug
    6. And last reconnected the DVI at the time restart
    This solved my problem

I have tried shaking my Mac mini but it showed no improvement

Then I took the laptop to the local Apple store to find out what the people at that store has to say about it. They looked at the laptop and then took it inside a room and after fifteen to twenty minutes they brought it back and now the laptop is working. When I asked, what was the problem? They replied that the connector to board had become lose. They have just replace the connector and the problem is solved

i believe you os version is 10.6.4, if so, your with me.

you should downgrade your snow leopard version, 10.6.4 really cause pain, i come here also to warn people to downgrade to at least 10.6.3 or change back to leopard

a few month ago, i have internal speaker problem (grey speaker with circle-dash on it),
i don't know the cause of it, so i decided to give to apple,
they say that my mainboard i dying and need to be replace for $400,

last night i have reinstalled my mac to leopard, then upgrade to snow,
i felt happy with the welcome animation because i can hear sound,

but today when i finish updating 10.6.4, it greyed again, SO now i know the problem, lucky me i don't repair for $400 lol, i can buy iphone with it.

so warn your friends if they have this problem.
