E72 - problems with USB connection to OVI/PC Suite.

Hello people, I have recently bought a Nokia E72 phone which is working great but it gives some problems while connecting the phone to the computer using the USB cable. The phone is not detected by the computer when it is connected using the USB cable by the Nokia PC suite or OVI which is installed on the computer. So if anybody else is facing similar E72 - problems with USB connection to OVI/PC Suite then please share some information which might help me in solving the issue. Thanks in advance. The operating system which is installed on the computer is Windows 7.

Check the USB cord which you are using to connect the phone to the computer. The USB cord consist of lines of conductors which can get damaged due to improper storage or improper handling. If any of the lines of conductors gets damaged then the communication between the phone and the computer will not be proper. Hence change the cord which you are using to connect the phone to the computer and see if the phone is getting detected or not.

The earlier releases of Windows 7 operating system has lot of compatibility issues with many of the devices which are available. Due to this compatibility issue, many of the devices do not work properly. This compatibility issue rises due to the lack of appropriate drivers for the devices. Hence try and download the drivers for the phone which are supported by Windows 7 operating system. Once the compatible version of the drivers are installed, you will not face the same problem.

There can be a problem with the application which is installed on the computer. The applications which are installed on the computer have lot of files which are associated to it. If any of the files which is associated to the application is corrupt or missing then the application will not work properly. Therefore to solve such problem, you will have to replace all the files which are corrupt on the system. Hence uninstall the applications from the computer and remove the files/keys which are related to the application. Once all the traces of the applications are removed from the computer, reboot the system and install the application again. See if the phone is detected or not.

I think the phone which you are using is having some problems and hence it is not getting detected by the computer. If there is a hardware problem in the phone then it will not get detected by the computer. To check if the phone is having problem or not, go to settings and select the mode as "Mass storage mode" and connect it to the computer. If the phone is not faulty then it will be detected by the computer. If the phone is not detected in Mass storage mode, then take the phone to the nearest Nokia Care center and get it checked. If the phone is faulty then it would be replaced for free if the phone is under warranty.
