    Bios Update x505 830

I have a Toshiba Qosmio X505-Q830 laptop. This was working fine till few days ago after which the laptop started to display the BIOS setup on its on. Now whenever I power on my laptop it first displays the BIOS set and then restarts and then the Windows operating system is loaded. Why is this happening and what is the reason for it? Need help.

From your description it seems to be a serious issue. As the BIOS screen is displayed only on pressing specific keys. There may be a number of reason for this. Firstly check that there is no malicious code running in your system. For this press the F8 key when your laptop is booted and get it in the Safe Mode to scan your computer. If a malicious code is causing this error then it will be deleted.

It might be that the BIOS needs to be updated. This might be because of the virus which has changed some settings of the BIOS. Or might be some one has knowingly or unknowingly changed the BIOS settings. Download the BIOS updates for your laptop and get it updated. If the problem persist then reply back.

    Re: Check Booting Sequence

It can be that the booting sequence is not changed. Boot your laptop and got to the BIOS setup. Go the the Booting preferences and select the hard drive option to boot your laptop from. Save the settings and reboot your laptop. It might be the BIOS is set to boot from disk drive. Check if the error persist.

Even though I select the safe mode booting option the laptop first displays the BIOS setup and then loads Windows after reboot. So even the Save mode is not the solution. Also the Safe mode scan did not detect any virus or worm. I even tried to change the Booting sequence but that too was not the required solution.

If the BIOS update is not fixing your issue I guess the only safe solution to get your system to stable mode is to re-install Windows. Most probably the BIOS update solves such issues. But if not solved then it is recommended to re-install Windows. But before that you may also try Disk Defragmentation.
