    Blackberry Bold mass storage issues

I have been using Blackberry Bold for a long time now and have never faced such problems with it before. The Blackberry Bold was working fine but now the phone is not detecting any memory card in mass storage mode. Whenever I connect the phone in Mass storage mode, no memory card is visible on the computer. Is this some hardware issue? So if anybody else is facing similar blackberry bold mass storage issues then please share some information.

Check the connecting cord which you are using to connect the Blackberry to the computer. The cord which is used to connect the phone to the computer is a USB cord which has number of lines of conductors. These lines of conductor get damaged due to improper handling or storage. If any line of the conductor gets damaged then the communication between the computer and the phone will not be proper due to which you are facing such problems. Therefore try changing the connecting cord of the blackberry and check if the phone is detected in mass storage mode.

According to me the memory card which you are using is faulty due to which you are not able to access the phone in mass storage mode. The memory card is a flash memory device which might get damaged due to improper ejection of the drive from the computer. If the memory card is faulty then it will not be detected on the computer. Try checking the memory card on some other device and then see if the card is accessible or not. If the card is not accessible on other phone, then the memory card is faulty and needs to be replaced. Once the memory card is replaced, see if the mass storage mode works on the phone or not.

I think the firmware of the Blackberry which you are using is corrupt due to which the mass storage mode is not working on it. All the functions which are performed by the blackberry are controlled by the firmware of the phone. Firmware of the phone is a software which can get corrupt or get stuck in a loop. If such a situation occurs then certain features of the phone will not work properly. Therefore try and get the firmware of the phone updated and then check if the same problem continues or not.

Sometimes when the phone is disconnected from the computer, the mass storage configuration of the phone changes. If the configuration of the phone changes then it will not get detected next time when it is connected to the computer. Therefore try and configure the mass storage mode of the phone as follows and then check if the mass storage mode works or not.
Go to Options and then select Advance options.
    Select Media Card.
Now check if configuration is as follows :-
    • Media Card Support:On
    • Encryption Mode: None
    • Mass Storage Mode Support: On
    • Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode when connected: Yes

Have you cracked the phone? The problem which you are facing normally occurs after cracking the phone. I have Blackberry storm which also was facing the same problem with the mass storage mode after jailbreaking the phone. The mass storage mode on the phone was not working after cracking. To solve the issue, you will have to download a BAT file corresponding to model of the phone which you are using. Run this bat file on the computer when the phone is connected. After running the batch file, the mass storage mode will work.
