Satellite A505-S6980 will not shut down Windows 7

Hello friends, I am not able to shut down my system in a normal way, since the upgradation of the operating system is done. The issue is that Satellite A505-S6980 will not shut down Windows 7. Everything was fine before the upgradation was done, that is when I was working with Windows Vista. When I press the shut down button, nothing happens. Kindly help me with the solutions that can be used to solve this problem.
