    Dell D630 laptop running slow

Hello, I have a Dell D630 laptop which is installed with Windows XP operating system. The laptop has been working great but from past few days the laptop has started giving some problems. All the applications take long time to open. It lags alot while watching videos online or offline and while playing games. Also sometimes when the power button is pressed the laptop wont boot. I cant figure out why my Dell D630 laptop is running slow and hence I need your help in solving the issue. Any suggestions/solutions about the topic are more than welcome.

There must be lot of processes running on the computer due which the performance of the computer is degrading. Every application which is executed by the computer, requires some memory and CPU allocation for execution. If lot of processes are running together then the memory and CPU usage allocated will be more hence the processor will take up lot of time for processing any application. To see all the processes which are running, open the task manager and see all the processes which are running. Terminate all the processes which are unwanted and then see if the performance of the laptop improves

Most of the laptops face the problem with the residual charge. Residual charge gets stored near the RAM chips. If the voltage of the residual charge increases beyond the threshold voltage then the system will not be able to access the RAM chips and hence will not boot. Therefore you will have to discharge the residual charge from the laptop. To discharge the residual charge from the laptop, shut down the laptop and disconnect the from the AC adapter. Remove the battery and press the power button. Keep the power button pressed for about 30 seconds. After that replace the battery and boot the computer.

All the functions which are performed by the computer are controlled by the motherboard. Motherboard is responsible for providing correct voltage levels to all the devices which are connected to the computer along with taking all the logical decisions. If the motherboard of the computer itself is faulty then the system will not work properly. Therefore I would suggest you to take the laptop to the authorized service center and then get the motherboard of the laptop checked. If there are any problems in the motherboard of the laptop then you will have to replace the motherboard.

By looking at the problem it looks like an Operating system issue. The operating system on the computer has got corrupt I think due to which the system is not working properly and hence you are facing such problems with the system. If you have the installation disk of the operating system which you are using then insert it in the drive and boot the system from the disk. let the installer load and give the installation option. Select the Repair Windows installation option and then let the procedure complete. After completing the procedure see if you the laptop works properly.

There is a battery on the motherboard which is responsible for saving the BIOS settings. Therefore open the laptop and locate the battery on the motherboard. Remove the battery and check the voltage across the battery using a Digital multimeter. The voltage of the battery should be in the range of 2.5v to 3 volts. If the voltage of the battery is less than 2.5 volts then you will have to replace the battery on the motherboard. Once the battery of the motherboard is replaced you will not face the same problem again.
