Not able to receive sms on dual sim phone

I bought a dual sim mobile yesterday. have put in a vodafone sim card which i was using previously. Am facing a very peculiar problem. whenever sumone sends me an sms, the 'new message ' icon on the screen flashes for just an instant and then vanishes. in addition, an sms from my phone with content 'Y' is sent to the number from which sms was sent to me. The other party receives this msg just fine. I checked in the sms counter and the counter shows that I have received 20 sms and sent 20 sms. But inbox shows 0. What am i to do to resolve this issue?

In that case first check it out with another mobile phone if you are same facing the same issue then you have to contact Vodafone customer care and tell them about the same, if the problem doesn't exist then i would suggest you to restore it to factory setting and after that i am sure you will not have any issue.
